Victoria Pleasure Grounds

By Dave Oldridge

A meeting was held yesterday afternoon to review the extension of our existing ground license which expires on the 30/06/19.

This meeting was attended by 2 members of Goole Town Council, together with most of the current users of the Victoria Pleasure Grounds.

It was explained by the council representative that unless we formed a Community Interest Company (CIC), a 30 year extension was unlikely to be approved.

It is anticipated that the CIC (when operational) would manage the ground, carry out repairs and apply for grants to redevelop, as a user of the ground we would pay a rent to the CIC.

Our current usage levels would not be affected, neither would our revenue generating assets - bar, kitchen, corporate lounges and any lease we signed would be beneficial to the club.

The structure/make-up of the CIC has yet to be decided but I will make sure that we are well represented should it ever come to pass. At this stage, the only thing that has been agreed is to download a draft document.

If and when the CIC does become more realistic, I will keep all our supporters fully updated.
