Northern Counties East League Premier Division : Hall Road Rangers 2 - 4 Goole A.F.C.
Goole claim their first win of the season with a battling performance
The Vikings claimed their first win of the season with a convincing 4-2 victory away at Hall Road Rangers.
Goole knew that they needed a win to kick-start their season but fell behind to an early goal. Rhys Vazquez opened the scoring for Hall Road in the 6th minute with a close range finish. Goole didn't have long to wait and equalised shortly after. The ball was delightfully whipped in from a free kick on the left hand side and Rob Constable was on hand to power his header in past the helpless Hall Road keeper.
Goole started to dominate proceedings and won themselves a penalty thirty minutes into the match. Josh Schofield was on hand to slot the ball into the bottom corner and put the away side 2-1 up. The Vikings then really started to push on for that all important third goal before halftime and their persistence paid off. Billy Law showed what a poacher he is, prodding the ball into the back of the net from inside the box to put the Vikings 3-1 up.
Goole gave themselves a scare as Hall Road pulled a goal back through Reggi Ward just before the interval. Goole didn't show any signs that the goal dented their confidence and come out for the second half with all guns blazing. Bill Law grabbed his brace with a superb finish to put the away side 4-2 up in the 47th minute. There wasn't much action after that and Goole managed to hold on for that all important first victory of the season.
Goole will next host Maltby Main on Tuesday night, the Vikings will be looking for back to back wins for the first time this season.
